Cowboy Judgment 12/2/07

What kind of horse do we produce?  Our goal is to produce a beautiful performance horse that is mentally sound, conformationally correct and suited for daily work and reliability.  We believe that our horses must be performance horses first and then they MUST look great.  AQHA refers to conformation as "Form to Function" and we endorse this theory.  We understand that there are over a million performance horses alive today and we have tried to own the best looking ones we could find for our breeding stock.

What is new at Magness Q. H.

You can tell the substance of a man by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.  Jerry Wells was a great man!  I met Jerry when I was a college student at the OKC State fair.  I saw him at a show 8 months later and he remembered my name.  He always treated me with the same respect and dignity that I saw him treat millionaires.  Jerry Wells, 67, died Saturday, May 3.  Click his picture for more
May:  We are happy to announce that Cowboy Judgment will continue his preparation for the 2008 PHBA World Championship.  He will be shown by Chris Littlefield in several roping events and ranch horse.  Chris trained and showed Real Gun to his 2004 AQHA WORLD SHOW SUPERHORSE, 2004 AQHA Reserve World Champion, Senior Working Cowhorse, 2004 NRCHA World Champion, Limited Open Bridle Horse2004 AQHA World Champoinship, Senior Heeling - 3rd Place2004 AQHA World Champoinship Senior Calf Roping - 5th PlaceAQHA PERFORMANCE CHAMPION, 2003 WORLD'S GREATEST HORSEMAN - 4TH PLACE As you can see we are pleased that Chris agreed to take Cowboy and give him this chance.
We would like to thank all of the customers who have adjusted their plans so we could end Cowboy's breeding season May 10, 2008 when he leaves for the Littlefield Ranch.  We will try to keep you posted on his progress.

January:  Our babies are arriving Skip N Cutie had a chestnut stud colt, Skiplong Rose had a creamello stud colt and Skip Chloe had a gold stud colt.  Cowboy Judgment came back from the trainers and he looks GREAT! Cowboy Judgment was entered in his first roping event and he won the heading.  A special thanks to Billy Melton for buying Cowboy Judgment's dam Tuffer N Tyme.  We hope that she is a blessing to him also.  He will breed her to his son of Heza Classic Fox.
December:  I have always believed that if there were an AQHA class for people who fit their own horses it would be huge and the whole horse economy would explode, but the AQHA has ignored my yearly suggestions.  I recently learned that the new World Conformation Horse Association plans to have classes just like this for regular people who do fit their own horses.  I encourage you to join and get involved in your states committee.  If you agree with me then give an executive committee member a call and tell them your feelings.  Glenn Cantrell is Oklahoma's representative and I am sure he would like to hear from you.
October:  We weaned our babies this month and finally had time to get them cleaned up and get some pictures.  This is a buckskin filly by Cowboy Judgment and out of a line bred Skipper W mare.  As you can tell, she is beautiful in every way.  Her dam did not milk well this summer, so this filly did not show a lot of mass, but since we have weaned her, she has eaten everything we have put in front of her and is starting to show some gristle.  She appears as though she is going to be thicker than I first thought.  If you know of anyone who would like to own a great filly like her, please let them know about her.
September: School is in and many of you know that I coach high school football also and that we played in the state championship last year.  Some of you have inquired about how our team is doing this year.  You can click on this link and go to the football site that my computer class maintains for current updates, highlight video and articles.

July:  We finished a good breading season with Cowboy Judgment.  God has really blessed him as a breeding horse with some amazing babies.  We are grateful to all of the people who bred mares with us this year and believe in Cowboy also.  I am not sure that Cowboy was happy to see July come this year, because he went to the roping horse trainer in south Texas as soon as the last shipment of semen was sent.  He will be there until January 24th  2008.

June: Megan showed her 2 year old filly by her mare Skip and Pacific Tyme.  They showed in the 5 & under mare class at the State 4-H show and were third.  They would have been Reserve, but got buried by one judge.  I am very proud of Megan, because she could have showed better halter horses, but wanted to show Sunshine, because she raised her.  Megan, like usual did all of her own work on the filly and even banded the mane herself.  Not bad for an 11 year old.

May:  We sold Cowboy Judgments dam Tuffer N Tyme to Billy Melton, but kept her 2007 filly by Skip and Slide.  This is the last baby by Skip and man is she a good one.  We feel so very blessed to own her, but can not think of a suitable name for her.  Can you think of any?  Click on the picture for more info on her.

March:  we ordered a fly system from Accent fly and mosquito control in Texas.  Sent them a check and had to file charges before we heard from him.  Please think twice before doing business with a guy named Bruce Knight of Gilmer Texas.  Click here for more info.

February: We had a tremendous stud colt born to Megan show mare Skip and Pacific Tyme.  This colt is and was enormous.  If he does not get to be 16+ hands I will be surprised!  We believe that he will be able to show at the AQHA level and thought about showing him at the AQHA World Championship Show this year, but did not want to take a chance on damaging his legs by getting him too heavy at this young age.  We are trying to keep him safe as he grows, because we believe that he is going to have a promising career as a show horse and a breeding horse.  This may be the best 07 show colt with out Impressive blood anywhere.  Click on the picture for more info on Hoops.

Megan and Smoke were Reserve Grand Champion Aged Gelding
Oklahoma 4-H State Championship.
Megan did all the work herself, she worked and groomed him daily, she even
banded his main herself before the show.  Several other families brought their
professional trainers to the show with them.
